Yes, you’re seeing it right:
The newest fan and the youngest wearer of Patty Tobin jewelry!!
Twenty-two month old “V” (shown above) is sporting our Blue Topaz chain from Patty’s gemstone station chains collection. A natural when it comes to fashion, according to her mom and grandmother, V is the third generation Patty Tobin fan in her family — and you can tell! She wears this piece as well as anyone we’ve seen yet! Both long-time customers of Patty Tobin, mom and grandma both agree, it’s never too early to start the next generation on her collection.
V is modeling the Blue Topaz 18k vermeil chain from Patty’s gemstone station chains. At 40” these chains can be worn long or can be doubled to wear in necklines. Available in many gemstones, including Carnelian, black Onyx, Smoky Topaz, and Amethyst ($295.00).
Chains are available at the Patty Tobin flagship boutique in Manhattan and via our online store at pattytobin.com.
The fashion shows have wrapped. The trend reports are in. And all the stores are brimming with the new spring ready-to-wear collections for 2014. We’ve taken it all in and put together our own special spring fashion report for all our loyal Patty Tobin followers. Enjoy!
Pretty Pastels
Petal pinks, light lavenders, butter yellows and minty-greens are everywhere this spring, including at Patty Tobin. The key is to find the hue that flatters you the most and fits your style, so if pink is not your color, perhaps a pretty pale lilac or icy blue is just the thing. Here are a few must-have pieces for each of the popular colors this spring.
Starting from the back row and going clockwise, here are a few of the loveliest must-have accessories for spring (shown above):
- Soft, butter yellow shell pearl lariat necklace with a crystal-set 18K vermeil adjustable clasp, $395.
- Pale pink and white biwa, keshi and coin pearls mixed together in a lustrous 6-strand torsade and finished with a sterling silver and pearl clasp, $895.
- Pinky-lavender baroque freshwater pearls strung together and finished with a stunning Amethyst druzy clasp, $895.
- Peachy-pink freshwater pearls, rose quartz, Swarovski crystals, and light pink coin pearls make up this gorgeous pearl lariat necklace, $595.
- Cool blues and minty-greens with touches of pink and yellow shine through in this luscious aquamarine cabochon torsade, $695.
- Sparkling rose amethyst gemstones make for the perfect purple accessory for spring; freshwater pearls brighten this delicate 40″ chain, which can be worn long or doubled, $495.
Icy-Blues & Fresh Greens
For those of us who aren’t crazy about sporting a lot of pink, don’t despair! There are some really fabulous glacial blues and steel greys going on this season. Not to mention a range of greens with everything from your more subtle seafoam and minty-greens to vibrant spearmint shades and even some bold teal colors are popping up all over the place.
It’s all about our colorful Fire Agates and Pearl & Gemstone Lariats this spring! They’re the perfect accessory for this season’s color palette with everything from glacial blues, steely greys, vibrant greens and even playful violets. Shown above are some of the most popular pieces trending for this spring and summer.
Starting from the left on the top row, here’s what we’re featuring above:

Patty Tobin is kicking off the new year with the debut of a brand new addition to the designer’s line of fine fashion jewelry! After years of working one-on-one with brides-to-be, Tobin is launching her first official collection of high-fashion, affordable luxury bridal jewelry.
The Patty Tobin BRIDAL Collection is finally here!
Like the rest of the designer’s creations, Patty Tobin Bridal will feature all semiprecious gemstones, freshwater and south sea pearls, slight touches of crystal, and all precious metals. “I want to take our brand concept and apply it to bridal jewelry,” says Tobin.
“Our jewelry is really a hybrid of fine and fashion jewelry. We take all real, high-quality semiprecious gemstones and pearls and we apply designs that have the look and appeal of what’s typically considered to be costume or ‘fashion’ jewelry, but ours is all real.”
“When you take a look at the quality of the product you are getting from us — real pearls, real gems, all sterling, or gold, or vermeil, all hand-crafted, all Made In New York — you can tell you are getting a good product. But it’s not until you compare our quality at our prices to other designers and retailers out there that you really start to see that we are well below market for what we are, and you start to appreciate the value of Patty Tobin jewelry.”
While the collection stays true to the designer’s motto of “classic elegance,” it brings together a variety of different designs from simple to standout styles for today’s modern woman. “I designed the collection to appeal to my core customers,” says Tobin. “Sophisticated, fashionable women with affluent taste and eye for value.”
The Patty Tobin Bridal Collection will debut this month in Sophisticated Weddings: New York Edition. The magazine is among the top-tier wedding publications with a veritable target audience. Sophisticated Weddings NYE stands out to us in particular because of its highly exclusive New York-centric content, which is perfect for Patty Tobin since our flagship store is located in the heart of New York City (108 W. 17th Street between Sixth and Seventh Avenues).
The 2014 issue will feature several Patty Tobin jewelry designs in its central editorial on long wedding dresses as well as our first print advertisement for Patty Tobin Bridal Collection.
Prospective brides will have the chance to get the first glimpse at some of the more delicate fine pieces from the Patty Tobin Bridal Collection like our lovely south sea pearl necklace (shown left). For the more statement-seeking bride, don’t miss our bridal ad showcasing Patty’s new baroque coin pearl and baby blue topaz briolette torsade (shown below).
“When it comes to planning your wedding, selecting your bridal jewelry is an extremely personal decision. I love working with brides because it gives me the unique opportunity to help women express themselves,” says Tobin. “These days even the more traditional brides are looking for ways to make their wedding day outfit unique or ‘more them’ and finding jewelry that speaks to you is one of the best ways to do that.”
Pointing to her years of her experience designing custom jewelry for brides and their wedding parties, Tobin explains that while every woman is different, every woman wants to satisfy two main ambitions when it comes to selecting their wedding day jewelry: “They want their bridal jewelry to not only reflect their individual style, but they also want it to fit with their ‘vision’ for the big day. That, and they want it to be affordable,” says the designer.
The new collection brings together a wonderfully diverse grouping of pieces, including necklaces, bracelets, earrings and even a few statement rings. With a range of designs from delicate and whimsical styles for the more romantic bride, to edgier, statement styles for the more fashion-forward bride, Tobin’s goal in creating the new collection is to make every single piece “timeless, elegant and affordable.”
Patty Tobin BRIDAL will be available online soon. Stay tuned…
It’s October and already Patty Tobin is in full swing with her second circuit of Bloomingdale’s Trunk Shows! After a successful series of spring shows, jewelry designer Patty Tobin kicked off her Fall-Winter line-up with Trunk Show events at Bloomingdale’s White Plains, the 59th Street flagship store in New York City, The Shops at Riverside (Hackensack, NJ) and in Willow Grove, PA.
Among the many beautiful new arrivals on display at Bloomingdale’s bi-annual HOT event was one of my personal, all-time favorite Patty pieces (shown left).
Two separate — but stackable — bib-style necklaces (one longer, one shorter) made from three graduated strands of small bronze pearls, copper coin pearls, and bigger round baroque honey-golden pearls. The faceted citrine and amethyst briolettes that are woven into each strand gives each necklace an added depth and dimension by using gemstones that capture and reflect light as you as move. Combine them as one, and you have a truly exceptional piece of jewelry.
…such a classic Patty piece!
Among the other favorites customers “ooh-ed” and “ahh-ed” over at our first few shows was this beautiful new abalone torsade (shown right).
The colors are simply stunning and appear to morph as you move: primarily a brilliant greenish-teal-blue, the abalone flashes hints of everything from fuchsia and purple to even citrus-green and shades of amber. Sure to brighten your mood as soon as you put it on, the second best part of this piece is how surprisingly lightweight it is for its size! You would think it must be a heavy piece, but you’d be surprised how light and airy the abalone feels around your neck — a winning combo, if I do say so myself.
Always a popular piece, Patty Tobin’s aqua quartz briolette torsade (below left) was back at the show drawing in customers like moths to a flame. This necklace is total eye-candy. It’s bright crystal blue color combined with the eye catching sparkle of all the different size briolettes pointing every which way. It’s like a magnet…it just pulls you right in!
Our new white chalcedony briolette necklace has been a tremendous hit so far this season! We simply cannot keep it in stock. As soon as one comes in, it flies right back out. And, at Bloomingdale’s it was no different. This seemingly understated — or arguably “simple” — single-strand necklace packs way more of a punch than you might think! Compared to some of the other necklaces it sits beside, it may not look like a killer, but trust me, once you put it on, you will fall in love. Lightweight and easy to pair with any kind of outfit, this necklace is a perfect example of a Patty Tobin piece that goes “black tie to blue jeans.”
Last but certainly not least, we have two beautiful new pearl pieces in our collection of fall favorites! These baroque keshi pearls are so unusual in their size and shape and both have a natural luster that makes them shine like satin. The pink lariat (left) was especially attractive to shoppers at our latest shows as pink continues to be one of the hot colors this season.

Here’s a news flash worth getting up in arms over: Patty Tobin is now carrying a fabulous new collection of “gemmy” evening bags! The designer has brought together an impressive assortment of embellished clutches that are now available in New York at the Patty Tobin Fine Fashion Jewelry Boutique, 108 W. 17th Street, and in Albany at Circles in Stuyvesant Plaza.
“They’re the perfect compliment to our jewelry,” says the designer of the new bejeweled clutches. A longtime handbag aficionado, Patty Tobin can tell you first hand how “essential” a good handbag is to your wardrobe. “It’s like a piece of jewelry,” says Tobin. “Only you carry it instead.”
Wonderfully colorful and beautifully crafted, these gemmy little bags feature various animal embellishments from peacocks and cheetahs to tigers and turtles. “They’re just awesome,” says Jayne Drost, Director of the Elizabeth Dee Gallery in Chelsea. “I want to wear this at every art event I go to.”
All of the handbags come with an optional chain attachment that can be easily hooked on to use as a purse strap, or left off if you want to carry it as a clutch. “It’s great to have both options,” says Drost. “I really just want to hold it, but if I need to free up my hands, it’s super easy to just hook the strap on real quick and throw it over your shoulder. It’s still looks great.”
The new evening bags start at $145 for the satin clutches and $395 for the full crystal encrusted clutches. Call 212.414.0174 for more details on our current selection.
It’s hard to believe that it’s already July, and that we’ve officially wrapped up our first full series of Patty Tobin Trunk Show events at Bloomingdale’s! But here we are with 27 exciting days of showcase events under our belt (with more to come this Fall!) After 12 weeks of shows at four different Bloomingdale’s locations including New York City, White Plains, and Hackensack and Short Hills, New Jersey, Patty Tobin and I sat down to take stock of our biggest “show-stoppers” and customer favorites, and to put together our first TOP 10 BESTSELLERS LIST!
For those of you who are familiar with our “Fine Fashion” jewelry line, you already know that Patty creates a lot of “one-a-kind” and “few-of-a-kind” pieces in addition to her classic Patty Tobin signature styles, or our “standard bearers,” as she would call them. (For those of you who are checking us out for the first time, many of Patty’s designs are just that: “One-of” or “few-of” a kind pieces (a.k.a. limited edition items) and when they go, they’re gone; some will be replicated, but very seldom duplicated.)
The collection we brought with us to these shows, which kicked off back in March in New York City at Bloomingdale’s highly anticipated and widely promoted “HOT” event, represented a “Perfectly Patty” combination of said “One-ofs” and the designer’s “signature styles”. So, when we sat down to put together our TOP 10 list, we were faced with a bit of a challenge. We wanted to include not only the pieces that had sold the most in number, and were therefore obvious customer favorites, but also the real “show-stoppers” that may only have sold once due to the fact that they were, in fact, “one-of-a-kind” pieces. In the end, this is what we resolved to feature as our TOP 10 “RAVES & FAVES” AT BLOOMINGDALE’S:
TOP 10 BESTSELLERS
customer favorites
#1) NEW Shell Pearl Lariats
#2) 16MM Shell Pearls
#3) Ladies loved the LAB!
#4) Bali gets ’em every time
#5) + #6) + #7) Crazy for QUARTZ!!
#9) Fire Agate Ropes fly right out!
#10) Freshwater Pearl & Gemstone Lariats
Many of these styles will soon be available for sale on our website. In the meantime, please direct inquiries and purchase orders to us by phone at 212.414.0174 (or toll-free at 877.772.8891).
There’s a great new blog in town that I want to share with all our “NY-Centric” friends and family called Manhattan Sideways. Patty and I were fortunate enough to be “discovered” by the blog’s author a few weeks ago on one of her zig-zagging excursions along Manhattan’s side streets. According to Betsy, the site’s founder and primary author, what began as a “whimsical idea” of walking the side streets of New York and documenting all the wonderful little businesses that make Manhattan such an extraordinary place quickly developed into the grander concept for ManhattanSideways.com.
Betsy’s mission: To explore the treasures of the side streets and document each and every place.
From great little shopping destinations to bars and restaurants to home furnishing, galleries, gardens and much more, Betsy and her team “pound the pavement and share their stories.”
Taking it one street at a time, Betsy and her team weave their way through the side streets of New York, meandering from east to west and back again; all the while highlighting the many small businesses and the people behind them that make up the wonderfully distinctive character of New York City, but who too often get overlooked or are left undiscovered to the masses.
“Spending time with Patty Tobin inevitably puts a smile on anyone’s face. One cannot escape her sweetness and positive, endless energy.”
As one of these small businesses, tucked away on our little section of 17th Street, no one understands how this works better than Patty and me. We hear from people all the time how happy they are that they “stumbled” on us, and how they never knew we were here, despite frequenting the neighborhood often or living right around the corner for years. It’s a common story and one that is known all too well by small business in any major city, but especially New York.Getting the word out about who you are, where you are, and why you are so special and worth a trip downtown, uptown, crosstown, etc, is arguably the greatest challenge for small independent boutiques like ours.
Every little shop’s dream is to get discovered by a highly publicized outlet that specializes in Shopping and Retail destinations and who already has a well developed readership and access to a wide range of audiences. Getting free publicity from such a high-profile resource can make all the difference in the world to an independent business like Patty Tobin. Only, trying to capture the attention of the big media outlets is a lot harder than you might think. It always makes me think of trying to hop a 20-foot fence with one hand tied behind your back.
You can understand then why it was not only exciting, but terribly refreshing to meet a woman like Betsy with her vision of promoting the many independently-owned businesses that give Manhattan its distinct character.
I was particularly touched by the personal reflection on Patty and I that Betsy incorporated into her write-up on our shop. I want to share my favorite little snippet from the description that went up on their site last week as part of their “Meet 17th Street” feature story.
“Patty’s fine fashion jewelry shop was another one of those pleasant surprises that I discovered while strolling on 17th, and meeting both Patty and her niece, Teal, made the experience even more gratifying. It became obvious immediately that the two are all about customer service. In their own lovely way, they establish a relationship with each person who walks through their door, and it seems that many continue to return time after time.”
– Betsy, Manhattan Sideways
