Sparkle & Tease Lights Up Patty Tobin Boutique

November 5, 2016  |  News & Events, Philanthropy, Special Events

Our Sparkle & Tease event to raise money for Pets for Vets was a riot and tons of fun. Les Femmes Fatales put on a show for our guests and lit up the shop with their tantalizing performance. We think the pictures from that night (courtesy of Sofiography) capture the evening perfectly. Take a look:

Sip’N’Shop In Charleston!

October 9, 2016  |  News & Events, Special Events

Patty Tobin is excited to announce our upcoming showcase in Charleston, South Carolina! Thanks to our friend and fabulous jewelry designer, Deirdre Zahl, we will debut Patty Tobin Fine Fashion Jewelry in this coveted Southern market in early December. You may remember last year when we hosted Dierdre for a trunk show of her Candy Shop Vintage jewelry line at our New York City Boutique. (For a look back at that event, click here.)

New this season, Patty Tobin has created a beautiful collection of semiprecious gemstone necklaces, each featuring a one-of-a-kind hand-crafted wire-wrap pendant like this Sterling Silver work of art. Shown above is a multi-strand appetite gemstone necklace with a large Sterling Silver pendant that wraps around a central Aquamarine gemstone.

We will join Dierdre at her Candy Shop Vintage store on Cannon St. in the heart of Charleston on December 2nd and 3rd for a special two-day “Sip’n’Shop” event. We have wanted to enter the Charleston scene for years and introduce our line to the Southern ladies that have a reputation for always dressing to impress. We hope they will turn out for this fun event and meet Patty Tobin in-person and see her newest collections of colorful semiprecious gemstone and pearl jewelry. Patty will be bringing an all-new collection with her to showcase, and we can promise it will be worth the trip downtown!

Something To Bark About: Fellow Animal Lovers Gather For A Night Of Fun and “Fur”lanthropy

newest2c_blog_comp_main_humane society2016What a night! We are so grateful to every one that attended our Humane Society Fundraiser Trunk Show on August 9th. The evening was a resounding success and a whole lot of fun! We were joined by many longtime friends and customers and were so happy to make the acquaintance of so many new faces. Guests gathered in support of Mohawk Hudson Humane Society, a fabulous organization that works tirelessly to safeguard homeless and abused animals from around the Capital Region.

We did our best to make the evening as enjoyable as possible. Guests sipped cocktails and enjoyed great company, great conversation, deeelicious food, and, of course, an exceptional jewelry showcase made possible by designer and philanthropist, Patty Tobin.

For more than 20 years, Patty has worked upstate and downstate with countless charities and nonprofits to benefit any number of causes from Alzheimer’s to kidney disease, elderly care to enumerable children’s charities. Which is why we were both so excited to finally do an event that would benefit animals in our area. (We Tobins breed fierce animal lovers…)

To ensure we raise as much as possible for the cause, Patty devoted herself these last few months to designing a stunning new collection of pieces to showcase exclusively at the event. Included in these, was a number of Patty Tobin Couture pieces, mainly statement necklaces like the Sapphires shown above (left) and the Aquamarines also shown above (right and center). These, among others, feature a new series of commissioned artisan pendants that Patty has recently introduced to her line. While these styles rest on the high-end of her line, Patty showcased a beautiful assortment of timeless necklace, bracelet and earring styles that offered guests a wide range of price points.

blog_humane_ring copyThe jewelry definitely gave the party a bit of swing, adding some fun and playfulness to the gathering as women took turns trying on different pieces and vying for a spot in front of the only mirror in the room to get a glimpse. For a little added excitement (and a little extra fundraising), Patty donated the stunning 23-carat Pink Topaz sterling silver Acanthus Cocktail Ring for a raffle prize (shown right). And our gracious host, Annmarie Ellis, donated a Patty Tobin Bali Sterling Silver necklace featuring a beautiful Lemon Topaz pendant as a second surprise raffle prize.

Thank you to everyone who worked with us to make this event possible and to every person who took time out of their busy schedule to attend. We’d like to send out a special thank you to Robin Anderson (Humane Society, Board of Directors) for her participation and effort organizing this event. We hope you will remember the name Mohawk Hudson Humane Society and go back and read our earlier blog that tells you a little bit more about who they are and the great work they do (click here to read that story).

Before we sign off, we have to give a very special Thank You to Annmarie Ellis for opening her home to us and really making this event possible. Not only did Annie graciously donate her home as our venue for the evening, but she worked tirelessly alongside Patty, donating her time, energy and capital to make sure the evening was a success. We are very grateful to you for everything, thank you.

Annmarie and Rocky Ellis

And last, but certainly not least: The Rock.
Rocky Ellis, the night just wouldn’t have been the same without you, boy.
You are the best security guard, jewelry model, and co-host anyone could ever ask for!
Thank you for sharing your home and your humans with us for the evening.

Shop for Charity! Humane Society Fundraiser Trunk Show on Tuesday, August 9th

Patty Tobin is happy to announce a special Trunk Show Fundraiser Event to benefit the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society on August 9th from 5:00-7:30pm. We would like to offer a special thank you to our generous co-hosts, Annmarie and Herb Ellis, and Robin and Andy Anderson. We are so grateful to be able to collaborate with these wonderful animal-loving individuals to put together this night to benefit a great organization that provides ongoing refuge and care to so many homeless and abused animals.

Patty Tobin has volunteered to do a special trunk show for the event and to donate a portion of all proceeds directly to Mohawk Hudson Humane Society. All jewelry will be for sale during the evening, so we heartily encourage our guests to come ready to shop for charity. The more jewelry we sell that night, the greater the benefit will be to this extraordinary organization.

Mohawk Hudson Humane Society works tirelessly to not only provide a safe-haven for countless abused and homeless animals, but to educate and advocate for the protection and prevention of animal cruelty and abuse. It is an organization you can be proud to support.

“To improve the lives of homeless and abused animals through sheltering, adoption, education and advocacy, as well as the prevention of animal cruelty.”  – The Mission of M.H.H.S.

Something To “Wrap” About

June 10, 2016  |  New Arrivals, News & Events

Patty Tobin has created some truly unique pieces this summer. These beautiful necklaces feature complex wire-wrap pendants in sterling silver. Patty has commissioned artisans from across the country, to create these precious one-of-a-kind works of wearable art.

Patty Tobin Sterling Silver Spiral Pendant Necklaces

First-Edition Patty Tobin designs for Summer 2016. Read on for details about the styles shown above.

The centerpiece of each piece consists of a central semi-precious gemstone woven (by hand) into an elaborate and intricate maze of winding sterling silver. By pairing each pendant with single or multiple strands of brightly colored semi-precious gemstones like the vibrant Apatite (left) and rich Prasiolite (center) shown above, Patty adds a burst of color that pulls you in until your focus falls on the remarkable central pendant designs.

More pieces are currently in the works and will be posted on our Facebook, Blog, and Instagram once available. To date five of the six first-edition designs have sold, including all three of the necklaces shown above (details provided at the end of this article). There is still one piece left and it’s this gorgeous Iolite gemstone necklace:

Our “Hot” New Neighbor

March 22, 2016  |  News & Events

Maybe its because the Academy Awards just passed, but after going on eight years now as an independent jewelry boutique on W. 17th Street, having Barneys move in around the corner, feels a little like having Leonardo DiCaprio move in down the hall from us! To say the least, it’s super exciting and has every small business owner in the neighborhood filled with anticipation for what’s to come now that Barneys is officially here!

The block’s been buzzing for weeks with talk of Barneys return to Chelsea. Last month, the iconic Barneys New York opened its brand new Seventh Avenue doors in the same spot it originally occupied when it opened in 1923. It’s commanding exterior features a 170 foot stainless steel marquee running along the store’s black marble facade; floor to ceiling windows that provide a staging ground for the company’s world-renowned window displays, and multiple views into the store’s main level from the street.

The only oblique architectural reference to the original Barneys interior design is the central spiraling staircase at the store’s epicenter. The massive futuristic design adjoins all four floors allowing customers a special vantage point from which to experience the store’s calm, luxurious, and very modern esthetic. The central staircase itself seems to echo an important discerning quality unique to Barneys, which, as WWD‘s David Moin phrased it, is a “place to see and be seen.” The social aspect which is apparently a part of every Barneys location and experience, according to the company’s COO and SVP, Daniella Vitale, is perhaps even more pronounced as a desirable “meeting place for everyone” — or at least that’s the hope. (WWD)

“Our new store is designed and curated to be a real neighborhood store, but also it will have a tourist
component that didn’t exist 10 years ago.”
– Daniella Vitale, Barneys New York (WWD, 02.15.16)

Its an exciting moment for small businesses in the neighborhood like us. Patty Tobin opened her Fine Fashion Jewelry boutique at 108 W. 17th Street in Chelsea seven plus years ago right around the corner from the legendary retailer’s new digs.

Our little jewelry box of a boutique is just a hop, skip and a jump away from the new downtown Barneys, which spans the majority of the Seventh Avenue block from W. 16th to W. 17th Street.

Our little jewelry box of a boutique is just a hop, skip and a jump away from the new downtown Barneys, which spans the majority of the Seventh Avenue block from W. 16th to W. 17th Street.

Many independent retailers in the neighborhood, especially those within close proximity to the new Barneys like Patty Tobin Fine Fashion Jewelry, are hoping that the arrival of a retail force like Barneys, will not only boost foot traffic in the area, but will attract the elite clientele who shop with discerning taste and an eye for quality and exclusivity.

Take a Right outta Barneys, a Right onto 17th St.

Walk down the block and we’ll be on your right!

Since 16th Street has little besides residential apartment buildings to offer, we’re hopeful that Barneys customers will spill over onto 17th Street as it is packed with many more delightful retailers like Patty Tobin Jewelry, Pippin Vintage, The Rubin Museum Gift Shop, Housing Works, West Elm and From The Source among others.

With so many more cultural attractions now in Chelsea like the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Rubin Museum of Art, the High Line; the clusters of art galleries all along the west side; places like Chelsea Market and the Apple Store; not to mention the celebrity sprinkling that goes regularly amidst the high-end shopping and culinary draws right next door in the Meatpacking District or just below it in Soho, the neighborhood hardly resembles that which the original Barneys inhabited 20 years ago. Although Chelsea has not yet elevated to the standing of a “high fashion” area, it is certainly on the path to becoming just that. Barneys CEO Mark Lee was quoted in WWD saying that he believes that Barneys return to the neighborhood “will be a catalyst — no doubt.”

As Patty would say, “From your mouth to God’s ears, Lee!” Stay tuned for more exciting neighborhood news about Patty Tobin’s hot new neighbor as we keep you up to date on the latest news and goings-on with the new downtown Barneys flagship store in Chelsea!

Back In Action on 17th Street

January 28, 2016  |  News & Events

We’re very happy to announce that as of this week Patty Tobin Fine Fashion Jewelry is back in action at 108 W. 17th Street! As of this Saturday, January 30th, our Manhattan flagship boutique will re-open its doors in Chelsea. Over the next two days we’ll be re-merchandising the shop with all new jewelry for Spring 2016. Our customers can look forward to sparkling cases brimming with tons of colorful new semiprecious gemstone and pearl jewelry.

We’ve spent the last few weeks renovating, repairing and scrubbing our shop top to bottom to make sure every square inch shines for our much-anticipated return.

More good news: We’ll soon be welcoming a wonderful new addition to the neighborhood as Barneys New York completes its final build-out in the old Loehmann’s building around the corner. Technically, we should say welcoming back since they were the original tenants before Loehmann’s took over the Seventh Avenue retail space. With that in mind, it’ll be like one big welcome home party for both the iconic Barneys department store and our little hidden gem around the corner at Patty Tobin.
